Dr. Jamie Solomon-Charney received her Bachelors degree in Psychology from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. She received her Masters of Science in School Psychology and Doctorate of School-Clinical Child Psychology at Yeshiva University, Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. She is a certified school psychologist and a New Jersey licensed psychologist.
Previously, Dr. Solomon-Charney worked in a private practice specializing in the cognitive behavioral treatment of anxiety disorders with children, adolescents and adults. In addition, she worked as a school psychologist in the East Brunswick Public School system. In her role as a school psychologist, Dr. Solomon-Charney conducted thorough psychological evaluations, and was responsible for the management and implementation of educational programs for students with various special needs. Further, she conducted individual and group counseling, social skills training, and ran a Circle of Friends program.
Prior to her position in the East Brunswick Schools, Dr. Solomon-Charney worked as a psychology extern at various settings. At the Regional Diagnostic Center at Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ, Dr. Solomon-Charney conducted forensic evaluations and psychotherapy with children that had been sexually abused. She worked as a primary therapist and case manager for adolescent inpatients with a wide range of psychiatric disorders at the Bronx Children’s Psychiatric Center, Bronx, NY. Finally, she externed at the Maywood Avenue School, Maywood, NJ, conducting Child Study Team evaluations and social skills groups.
Dr. Solomon-Charney has been trained at the Behavior Therapy Institute, an intensive training course on the Cognitive Behavioral Treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This program is sponsored by the National Obsessive Compulsive Foundation, and consists of a faculty who are internationally known and widely published in the area of research and treatment for OCD.
Presently, in her private practice, Dr. Solomon-Charney specializes in the Cognitive Behavioral Treatment of anxiety disorders and depression. She works with children, adolescents and adults who present with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, Panic Disorder, Separation Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety and Depression. Dr.Solomon-Charney also works with other behavioral and emotional disorders including Attention Deficit Disorder, Learning Disabilities and Social Skills Disorders.
In addition to psychotherapy, Dr. Solomon-Charney conducts psychological evaluations with children, adolescents and adults. These evaluations are tailored to the client's individual needs in order to address specific areas of concern. Testing may be used to assess any or all of the following areas:
